The fear of being vulnerable
Okay I’ll admit it, I’ve had the fear of being vulnerable my whole life. In my younger days I had convinced myself I could be a solid wall and keep myself safe. Two issues with that.
- It keeps everyone else out
- It doesn’t keep me safe. It only cuts me off from life.
I recall in my 30’s looking up the synonyms of the word vulnerable, there before me was the word “Human”. It hit me hard. I was trying to prevent myself from being human.
Now I’m at a new level of being vulnerable. I want to reach people. I want them to know I’m here. Ack! I have to put myself out there to do that. You get to witness my first step.
